Spotlight: Katie Zender
Markers:
Katie worked at LKM for many years as the production supervisor. Then, following her desire to learn much more about new technology, she moved on to a web development company, happily learning about developing web sites, custom applications, e-commerce and various other electronic projects.
Subsequent to the dot.com “implosion,” she returned to LKM as an online media buyer for a few years, initiating the first in-house online media buys for several LKM clients, and becoming proficient in Search Engine Marketing in the early days before many people knew what that discipline meant.
When web work started to expand at the agency, she moved over into the Interactive Department and grew the department into a note-worthy profit center providing interactive work of all kinds. Katie now is LKM’s Internet Communications Supervisor and her expertise across multiple disciplines makes her a valuable asset to our team.
Passions:
Laughing: she’s loud and you can hear her across the entire agency. Makes you smile (she hopes). Her last best read: House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende. Movies: she averages at least one movie a week but is a tough critic.
Family:
Katie has raised what she considers to be “an awesome daughter” who is finishing college while also working full time. Katie and her daughter share custody of Maybe, their sweet, lovable golden retriever “mutt” who visits the office frequently during thunderstorms so she can hide under the desk.
Words:
Katie believes in passion for your work and passion for the best possible creative product, no matter what the medium. And passion for life-long learning.
Something no one knows:
Katie has a serious interest in local politics and local government. She has served as an officer and board member of her neighborhood organization for many years, which led to countless City Council meetings, meetings with developers, various petitions and protests and ultimately, active participation in a variety of government initiatives with the goal of making the city more livable and enhancing the quality of life as Charlotte continues to grown astronomically.
